CHES – Certified Health Education Specialist

A person is said to obtain the designation of a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), if the person clears the necessary proficiency exam that is organized by the National Commission of Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC). This organization aims at seven responsible facts that a health education specialist must know and follow. They are as follows:

The CHES examination (exam eligibilityis the entrance examination for becoming a health education specialist. Those individuals who possess a bachelor's, doctoral or a master's degree can appear for the exam. The exam comprises of 165 questions and all of them are multiple choice questions. It is further divided into 150 scored questions and 15 pilot tested questions. These tests are conducted at around 125 approved examination centers that are spread in most of the regions of the United States of America.

After clearing the exams, in order to conserve your certification you will have to accomplish 75 hours of continuing education once in five years.

After becoming a CHES, you can conduct educational programs on nutrition, hygiene, importance of exercise, prevention methods for various diseases, and importance of a healthy life. They work at schools and non-profit institutes to deliver various teaching programs.
